Emmanuel is here to help support you, your family, and friends through one of life’s most difficult times.
We know that although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, a church funeral is an opportunity to celebrate a life and hear the Christian message of hope in life after death. A funeral at Emmanuel is available to everyone who lives in our parish, and we’re here to give support to you before, during, and after the service; we will be here for you as long needed.
If you wish to have a Church of England funeral, you will need to tell the funeral director of your wishes and they will often contact the Parish Office on your behalf. If the family of the deceased are local, the vicar will normally visit them at home to plan the service; so, it can be the service you want it to be. If you are not local do not worry this can be done via the phone and email. We will also pray for you as the friends and family as a part of our Sunday and daily services.
Not sure what hymns and readings to choose? The Church of England has put together a helpful website with advice on what happens at a funeral and how to choose hymns and readings.
The vicar can take a funeral service at Emmanuel church, at the local crematorium, or the cemetery. To talk about arranging a funeral with us, please contact the Parish Office in the first instance.
